Powerful and popular figures gain enemies, and Houston had many. We’re taking a look at just a few of the men that stood in opposition to the George Washington of Texas.

The Sons of DeWitt Colony site has an article about David G. Burnet, the first President of the Repiblic of Texas.
They also have a story about Sidney Sherman’s flag that he and his volunteers brought from Kentucky. It is the one most commonly associated with the Battle of San Jacinto. That same page lists all the other flags of the Texas Revolution.
The speech attributed to Mosley Baker, wherein he reportedly first raised the battle cry of “Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad!”
