#94: Texas Rising: Part Five
48 minutes
Download MP3 audioWe continue our discussion of the History presentation of Texas Rising. This week we talk about the fifth installment: The Rise of the Republic.
Before we begin… What’s your favorite historical inaccuracy in Texas Rising?
Lyrics to The Yellow Rose of Texas, originally from around 1851 (not 1836).
The various flags of the Texas Revolution. Some were flown at appropriate times in the show, others were not. They also had flags in the show that aren’t in this group, like the one flying at the Alamo at the end.
The history of Texas beer, as told by us. Cold lager beer wasn’t prevalent in Texas until after the 1850s, so when Houston asks for beer “as cold as you have it”, it probably wasn’t very cold at all.
The official page for Texas Rising on the History website. Some of the videos are better than others, but there you go.
Our Texas Rising landing page that groups all of our shows that touch on the same story from a more Texan-centric point of view.
